Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 cup dried hibiscus flowers or 4-5 hibiscus tea bags
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup simple syrup
  • 2 cups sparkling water
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  • Steep the hibiscus: Pour hot water over dried flowers, let sit for 10 minutes
  • Strain mixture: Remove all hibiscus flowers using a fine mesh strainer completely
  • Mix base: Add lime juice and simple syrup to hibiscus tea, stir well
  • Prepare glasses: Fill tall glasses with ice cubes, pour hibiscus mixture halfway
  • Add fizz: Top each glass with sparkling water, stir gently once
  • Garnish and serve: Add fresh mint leaves, and serve immediately while cold

Notes

  • Use fresh lime juice instead of bottled for the best bright, authentic citrus flavor.
  • Don't steep hibiscus longer than 15 minutes, or it becomes too bitter to enjoy.
  • Add sparkling water right before serving to keep the fizz in every single sip.
  • Chill all ingredients beforehand so your drink stays cold without getting watered down.
  • Store leftover hibiscus tea in the fridge for up to one week maximum.
  • Double or triple this recipe easily for parties by multiplying all the ingredients.
