Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond milk unsweetened
  • 2 cups fresh kale leaves stems removed
  • 1 large green apple Granny Smith, cored and chopped
  • 1 medium banana frozen
  • ½ cup Greek yogurt plain, low-fat
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 4-5 ice cubes optional, for extra thickness

Instructions

  • Prepare kale: Pull off the thick stems and chop the leaves roughly. This makes everything blend smoothly without weird chewy bits.
  • Chop the apple: Cut out the core and chop your apple into small pieces. Smaller chunks mean your blender has less work to do.
  • Layer ingredients: Start with almond milk, then pile in kale, apple, banana, yogurt, honey, and lemon juice. Order matters for smooth blending.
  • Blend on high: Let it run for about 60 to 90 seconds. You want it totally smooth with zero green chunks floating around.
  • Adjust consistency: Too thick? Add more milk. Want it colder? Toss in some ice cubes. Make it work for you.
  • Taste and change: Take a sip and see what you think. Add more honey if too tart or lemon if too sweet.
  • Serve immediately: Pour into your favorite glass and drink it right away. It tastes best when fresh and cold from the blender.

Notes

  • Frozen banana is the secret to making this creamy without ice cream. Trust me on this one, it's magic.
  • Baby kale blends smoothly and tastes milder than the big mature leaves. Look for it at the store.
  • Chop and freeze your apple chunks ahead of time. Makes your smoothie extra frosty and thick on hot days.
  • Smoothies naturally separate when they sit. Just give it a good shake if you stored it for later.
  • Try adding fresh mint or a tiny piece of ginger. Both add amazing flavor and help with digestion, too.
